I picked out this song for this week and as I was reflecting on the words, I was reminded of something I had read recently about God's love for us. I wasn't sure which book I had read it in because I am studying 2 at the moment so I went back through both of them and found it in the "Crazy Love" book, so to quote from it (and Francis Chan the author) again this week a few sentences from Chapter 3 titled the same as the book "Crazy Love".
The very fact that a holy, eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, merciful, fair, and just God loves you and me is nothing short of astonishing.
The wildest part is that Jesus doesn't have to love us. His being is utterly complete and perfect, apart from humanity. He doesn't need me or you. Yet He wants us, chooses us, even considers us His inheritance (Ephesians 1:18). The greatest knowledge we can ever have is knowing God treasures us.
The irony is that while God doesn't need us but still wants us, we desperately need God but don't really want Him most of the time.
Ephesians 1:4 - Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
I Need You To Love Me
Barlow Girl
Why, why are You still here with me
Didn't You see what I've done?
In my shame I want to run and hide myself
But it's here I see the truth
I don't deserve You
[Chorus:]
But I need You to love me, and I
I won't keep my heart from You this time
And I'll stop this pretending that I can
Somehow deserve what I already have
I need You to love me
I, I have wasted so much time
Pushing You away from me
I just never saw how You could cherish me
'Cause You're a God who has all things
And still You want me
Your love makes me forget what I have been
Your love makes me see who I really am
